Miko Shiatsu Foot Massager Review

Miko Shiatsu Foot massager

The Miko Shiatsu Foot Massager is a product that is also designed to provide full-foot benefits for those looking for a little luxury. The company has even made this massager remote-controlled. They also had the foresight to include two of these remote control units with the purchase, which can be helpful if you happen to lose one.

This is a product that has a heat setting as well as five pressure settings so that you can experience a wide array of massages. The product defaults to the level three massage, but all settings utilize shiatsu techniques to hit the pressure points in your feet.

At each point in the Miko Foot Massager’s design, different mechanisms focus on different areas of the foot. In the front, there is a wheeled apparatus that spins and applies textured pressure to the toes. There’s also a middle mechanism that hits four different pressure points in the middle muscles of the foot, and a final, two-pronged massager that is designed to work the muscles around the heels of your feet. Last, there is an air bladder that alternately inflates and deflates to apply comfortable pressure to the top of the foot.

When it comes to the product’s dimensions, it measures in at roughly 17 x 17 x 9.4 inches, which makes it a bit larger than many of the products on the market. Still, this is small enough to fit under a bed or sink with relative ease. It weighs in at about 12 pounds, so carrying it for long periods can be problematic.

The Miko Shiatsu Foot Massager has a variety of good features that mark it as a great at-home product.  One of the features that stands out is the 15-minute timer. This feature engages an auto-shutoff function after 15 minutes of use. This is very useful for those that get very comfortable during a massage and doze off from time to time. This product can also accommodate a size 14 foot, so most people should be able to use it in comfort.

Does this shiatsu foot massager actually work? Let’s find out.

This time I’m not looking at regular consumer electronics. I’m looking at something that’s more personal, something to do with my feet. Yes, I said it, my feet.

This is the Miko Shiatsu Foot Massager, and it’s pretty sweet. So I’ll go ahead and put my feet in, and you can put in up to a size 14 foot they say. I have a size 11 and it’s already on the … Maybe the edges of it. It comes with two remotes though, so smaller feet are going to get more benefit out of this perhaps, but it definitely works. So let me go ahead and turn it on.

But before I turn it on, first up here’s a closeup of the remote. You can see basic functionality. Here’s a really cool thing. It comes with two remotes, so if you lose one you got another one that you probably just leave stashed in the box in the basement or garage. Works great.

Now it has switchable heat and five pressure settings. So I’m going to turn it on and use the default, which is pressure level three. Oh, yeah. It’s really nice actually. And as you can see in this picture, there’s different things happening at different points on your foot.

There’s sort of this shiatsu rolling massage thing going on under the balls of your foot that generally gets your toes. Then there are other rollers at the arch of your foot and your heel. Then on the top there’s this sort of air pressure cushion thing that inflates and deflates, and that gives you some pressure on top.

Really though the huge benefit of this is at the bottom of your foot, and when you get it onto higher pressure levels or higher settings it’s pretty intense actually. So what the company recommends, and I have to agree, is start at level one and give yourself a chance to get used to it before you freak out. It’s really nice, but it can definitely be like someone giving you a pretty enthusiastic massage.

So there’s the kneading and rolling going on. Really not much else I can tell you about it. It’s pretty heavy. It’s 12 pounds. So if you’re giving this to your parents or something you might want to help them position it in the right place.

One thing I really like about it is it has a 15 minute automatic turnoff, so if you’re doing this and you’re sitting in front of the TV and you start to drift off and you fall asleep, you’re not going to wake up six hours later with your feet a mushy pulp. That wouldn’t happen anyway, but after 15 minutes it just automatically turns off.

That’s a nice amount to get actually, a nice amount of foot a massage. This is really great for people that are on their feet all the time. Is it as good as actually having someone giving you a foot massage? Probably not. But it’s surprisingly close actually. It’s quite pleasant actually.

The heat … I don’t feel much heat, but your experiences may vary. I also use it with socks on, and I tell my kids to wear socks because it’s just a little more hygienic. But you can actually pop out the cloth or fabric insert. You can take them out and you could wash them separately. I haven’t tried that, so I assume it works.

It’s very nice. This is something you could even have under your desk at work so when you’re like … Come out of one of those really stressful meetings, go for a few minutes of foot massage while you’re chilling out and having a cup of tea, not such a bad thing.

Now the only thing left to talk about is the price, and it’s not inexpensive. It’s available at Amazon.com. But that sounds like a lot unless you think about how much it costs to get a couple hours worth of a massage, right? If you go for an hour massage it’s generally around 100 bucks and your done. This thing you could use for years, so this is something that I really like, and I have to say this is going to be a permanent part of our living room, because I know that my kids, especially with all their sports, having a little foot massage is a very pleasant thing, and I’m not going to touch their feet. Don’t tell them that.
