TheraGun G3 Review

TheraGun G3

The TheraGun G3 is one of the newest devices on the market. When it comes to massage guns, nearly every company that manufactures these devices is a “one-trick pony”. In other words, they only have one device in the percussion massager space. TheraGun looks to change that with the launch of two new devices to expand their massage gun line, the G3 and the LIV.

Below we’ll take a look at TheraGun’s G3 massager and see how it is different than their other devices and what features it includes.

What’s different with the TheraGun G3?

The device itself is a step down from TheraGun’s G3Pro, which is designed for very active athletes and designed for long lasting, high performance, use. The G3 is geared more toward the everyday user who is looking for a device to aid in their daily relief from living life or improved range of motion.

Those familiar with the G3Pro will notice a few major differences. First off, the G3 does not come with a removable battery, so the life of the device and any massage is dependent on the single built-in battery’s charge. Secondly, the G3 device does not offer adjustable angles like the G3Pro. The G3 comes with two less attachment heads and does not include an attachment pouch.

While it lacks some of these features that the G3Pro offers, the price is reflective of this and it comes in a significantly lower price point, while still offering the same overall effectiveness in terms of a massage.

What are the specifications of the TheraGun G3?

The G3 massager will boast an amplitude of 16mm, a stall force of 40 pounds and offer two varying percussion speeds ranging from 1,740 PPMs and 2,400 PPMs. The exterior frame is made of professional grade plastic and the internals will feature an industrial grade Japanese motor. The massage gun is powered by a Lithium-ion 3 cell, which is built in and non-removable. The G3 will have a battery life of 60 minutes. The overall weight of the massage gun will be just under 3 pounds (2.7 lbs). It will also come with FOUR attachment heads.

How portable is the G3?

The G3 device is relatively light weight (under 3 pounds) and comes in a decently compact size. The device can easily be transported in a backpack, small purse, or gym bag to take to the gym or office. Also, with the convenient carrying case, it makes it easy to bring all the accessories with your device wherever you are traveling to.

In terms of flying with your G3 percussion massager, here is what the TheraGun website has to say:

When traveling with your Theragun, lithium-ion batteries must be stored in carry-on baggage only. When a carry-on bag is checked at the gate, all lithium batteries must be removed from the bag and kept with the passenger in the aircraft cabin.

While you are able to travel with your Theragun unit and accessories in your carry on luggage, it is at the discretion of the TSA officer if they will allow this through. Please feel free to share our website and social media with them if they are unfamiliar with our device.

We do recommend that your Theragun unit and other accessories (charging station, etc.) is kept in your checked luggage, especially when traveling internationally.

Theragun Video

What’s up, everybody? Patrick with BestMassageTech. In this video today, we are going to be taking a look at the Theragun G3 massage gun.

Out of the box, the G3 does come in a convenient carrying case. The case does zipper shut. It does have a carrying handle. Everything you need for the device fits inside this case. Inside of this, we have the device itself, all of the attachment heads, and its charging cord.

We’re going to start by taking a look at the device. The Theragun G3 is a step below Theragun’s G3 Pro. It does offer a few less capabilities and functions than the G3 Pro, but the price point is reflective of those capabilities.

The device does have a stall force of 40 pounds. It is a multi-speed device. It comes with two different speeds. You can adjust the speeds by pressing the button on the top of the power button here. Those speeds are varying from 1,740 percussions per minute on the low speed and 2,400 percussions per minute on the high speed.

It does have a built-in rechargeable battery. The battery does charge with the charging cord that comes with it, and you just plug it into the back. As it’s charging, you’ll see up here it will actually light up to show what that battery is at once it’s charged. It will be fully lit.

It does come with four different attachment heads. The attachment heads just pop off pretty easily. They have two little balls here that lock in. The bottom of the attachment goes like that, and it just clips in.

These attachments are interchangeable with the G3 Pro, so it is really convenient if you are going between those two devices or if you want to try to use the attachments from one. The G3 Pro just comes with two additional attachments.

I’m just going to put this down here quick so you can have a good backdrop, but it does come attached with the dampener. It also comes with a standard ball, a thumb, and a cone attachment. Depending on where you’re hoping to use this, what type of muscle area or muscle tissue you’re going to be massaging, you’ve got a variety of different tips that you can utilize.

It does have a fixed angle, so unfortunately you don’t have any adjustability in terms of the angle. However, the same as the G3 Pro, your amplitude is going to be 16 millimeters. The amplitude is going to be the distance that this massage head moves away from the gun, and up and down. Those percussions per minute that I mentioned earlier, that’s how many times it’s going to move up and down per minute.

In terms of the noise level, it is a relatively quiet device that we can use in a somewhat public setting. If you wanted to use this in the gym or want to use in the office, you certainly could.

I am going to turn it on here just so you can hear the noise levels of the high speed and the low speed. To turn it on, you just press this power button right here. When it comes on, it’s going to automatically come on at the highest speed. Again, just to switch it to the lower speed, you just need to press the button right above it. This is going to turn on at its highest speed, and we’re going to be between about 68 and 72 decibels between the two different speeds. That’s the high speed. That’s the low speed.

Like I mentioned earlier, here’s the battery level. It does light up on both sides of the device.

It does come again with the carrying case, which is really, really convenient.

One thing I didn’t mention is the weight of it. It is 2.7 pounds, so it is a pretty light device, very easy to use, and again has a lot of great features that a lot of those massage guns on the market are offering with the great, reputable name of Theragun.
