Sports recovery company Hyperice hopes they will at least be a part of the future for esports, or “New Sports” in terms of recovery. In July of 2018, they signed a deal with Foundry IV to develop an initiative called, “Move”.
The goal, similar to other professional sports, is to improve the performance and career length of professional gamers. Just as other best practicies of professional sports such as nutrition and psychology have come to professional gaming, the new partnership will introduce health, recovery, and wellness to esports. Their hope is to bring it to a new level not previously seen in the industry. As the money and attention surrounding esports and professional gamers grows, there will continue to be added stress on these esport atheltes to perform at the highest level. Many gamers have already inked deals with food and beverage companies to help them fuel up and stay energized, but Hyperice appears to be the first to take a big step toward the recovery process.
As Foundry IV looks to redevelop the term eSports into New Sports, they see this partnership as an opportunity to help their New Sports Federation stand out. As the eSports space continues to grow at an incredible rate, competitors across the world are seeking technologies to help improve their health and wellness in order to have a competitive edge and extend their careers. The partnership should help them bring this competitive edge directly to the gamers.
