TheraGun liv review

TheraGun liv Review

With the introduction of the TheraGun liv massage gun, TheraGun looks to expand their demographic outside of elite athletes and into the everyday home. Their lightest and most portable device is fantastic for those looking for quick relief, wherever that may be. Not to mention, the price point is much more friendly than the other devices in their product line, the G3 and G3Pro.

Below we take a further look at the features, specifications, and capabilities of the TheraGun liv percussion massager.

What’s different about the TheraGun liv?

For anyone familiar with the TheraGun brand, you are most likely going to immediately think of the G2Pro or the G3Pro, which have preceded the development of the liv. The Pro series of devices were targeted for elite athletes to aide in recovery and range of motion to compete at the highest level. These devices offer multiple speeds, multiple batteries, multiple adjustment angles, and multiple attachments. With the liv, TheraGun has taken a simpler approach.

Unlike it’s predecessors, the liv comes as a portable and lightweight device that still packs a punch. In an effort to offer a much lower price point, TheraGun has stripped away many of the features that led to the high end cost of their Pro series of devices. With the liv, users get a built-in lithium-ion battery that lasts for 45 minutes, a non-adjustable massage angle, a single percussion speed and a reduced number of attachments. Additionally, the force that’s able to be applied when massaging is less than both the G3 and the G3Pro, as the maximum stall force is 30 pounds. (Stall force is how much pressure can be applied before the motor stalls).

What isn’t different is the quality and results of this device. The massage head still functions at an amplitude of 16 mm and users still get the maximum performance of the Pro and G3 series models with 2,400 percussions per minute.

What are the specifications of the TheraGun liv?

The TheraGun liv boasts an amplitude of 16mm, a stall force of 30 pounds and offers a single percussion speed of 2,400 percussions per minute. The exterior frame is made of professional grade plastic and the internals feature an industrial grade Japanese motor. The massage gun is powered by a rechargeable Lithium-ion 3 cell, battery. The liv’s battery lasts for about 45 minutes of use before it needs to be recharged. The overall weight of the massage gun is 2.5 pounds and it comes with a lightweight travel pouch. It also comes with two attachment heads designed for targeting different areas of the body.

What’s included with the TheraGun liv?

  • liv massage gun
  • travel pouch
  • built-in, rechargeable, 3-cell lithium-ion battery
  • Charging cord
  • 2 attachment heads
    • Dampener – tender areas or near bones
    • Standard Ball – overall use

How portable is the TheraGun liv?

The liv by TheraGun is very light weight, weighing in at 2.5 pounds and comes in a decently compact size. In terms of TheraGun devices, the liv is the lightest and most compact massage gun they manufacture. Designed for users on the go, the device can easily be transported in a backpack, small purse, or gym bag to take to the gym or office. Also, with the convenient travel pouch, it makes it easy to bring all the accessories with your device wherever you are traveling to.

In terms of flying with your liv percussion massager, here is what the TheraGun website has to say:

When traveling with your Theragun, lithium-ion batteries must be stored in carry-on baggage only. When a carry-on bag is checked at the gate, all lithium batteries must be removed from the bag and kept with the passenger in the aircraft cabin.

While you are able to travel with your Theragun unit and accessories in your carry on luggage, it is at the discretion of the TSA officer if they will allow this through. Please feel free to share our website and social media with them if they are unfamiliar with our device.

We do recommend that your Theragun unit and other accessories (charging station, etc.) is kept in your checked luggage, especially when traveling internationally.

What’s up everybody? Patrick with Best Massage Tech, today we will be reviewing the TheraGun liv massage gun.

So when you open the box, you’ll see everything with the TheraGun liv comes conveniently located in the bottom half of the box. We have our device itself, the attachment heads, the charging cord and a small carrying pouch. We’re going to start by taking a look at the device. In terms of the TheraGun liv, it is the smallest and most compact massage gun in the TheraGun product line. It is the lowest tier, in terms of the G3 being right above it, and the G3 Pro just above that.

The device does come with a stall force of 30 pounds. Now if you’re seen any of my other videos, you’ve seen me mention that stall force. If you haven’t seen any of those videos, stall forces is the amount of pressure that can be applied to the device before the motor’s going to stall out. So you can apply 30 pounds of pressure to this, before the motor’s actually going to stall. I will show an example of that here just briefly. Once you turn it on, you can actually just press with a little bit of force, 30 pounds in this instance, and get the motor to stop. You can just turn the device back on though again afterwards, and it works great.

It does have an amplitude of 16 millimeters, so the amplitude, again if you’ve seen my other videos, that’s the distance that this massage head is going to move away from the device. It is a one speed device, so this speed is just going to be fixed at 2400 percussion per minute.

It does have a built in rechargeable battery, the battery when fully charged will last 45 minutes. Again, it does come with the charging cord in the case. In order to charge it, there’s just a small insert here, and you just plug it in and then plug it into the wall. It does light up once it’s fully charged, so you know where that battery level is at.

The device comes with two different attachment heads, so depending on what areas you’re hoping to massage, you can switch that up. It comes with the dampener attached, and I’ll just show that there. And it also comes with a standard ball. So those are the only two attachments you can use with the TheraGun liv, the attachments have two little balls here on the head, just this hole slips in. They do stay on great, but these attachments are built differently than the attachments for the G3 or the G3 Pro. So unfortunately again, you can only use these attachments on these devices, and at the moment they don’t offer any other sort of tips for the liv, but potentially something they might offer in the future.

The device does not have the capability to be adjustable. By that I mean the massage angle is fixed, so this head does not move in any other direction like the G3 Pro offers, but because it doesn’t have that capability, and because it has the built in battery, it’s very very light. So this is only two and a half pounds, it’s very easy to maneuver, get around anywhere you’d like.

The noise level, because it is the one speed, and because it does have a little bit less housing built around the device, does have a noise level of 75 decibels. I’ll turn it on here, just so you can hear. It is a little bit louder than the G3 and the G3 Pro, but still quieter than the G2 Pro. And again, still probably quiet enough that you could use it in a public setting if you wanted to.

It does not come with a carrying case at all, however it does come with a drawstring pouch. Which is nice, because you can still fit another massage device and all your other attachments and everything in it. But that is the TheraGun liv.
