Hyperice, a leader in the movement and recovery industry and known by many as the creators of the Hypervolt massage gun, recently acquired recovery space peer NormaTec. NormaTec is a leader in compression systems, most commonly their NormaTec Recovery Boots.
Both companies are well-known for their application in professional sports, helping athletes enhance performance, reduce risk of injury, and extend career longevity. The companies were previously familiar with one another as they have been working in collaboration since 2016 within the sports performance and military markets.
“We started Hyperice not only to help improve athlete’s performance, but to provide the same level of technology to everyday people,” said Anthony Katz, Founder of Hyperice. “In NormaTec, we found a company that shared our vision and mission and we are excited to welcome them into the Hyperice family.”
Under the Hyperice umbrella, the team plans to hone their focus in on overall wellness and launch what they are dubbing “wellness pods”. These pods will be a physical experience that will include a full suite of Hyperice and NormaTec devices and tools. Additionally, they will utilize education focused around optimizing human performance, health, and longevity. The idea behind these pods is to provide a benefit to any team or organization that values health and wellness for members, employees, athletes or clients. They foresee these having a worldwide presence by 2022.
The company will also be continuing scientific research to study the combined effects of the company’s full suite of products used in a variety of sequences for warm up, recovery and general body maintenance.
“As the global health and wellness space continues to grow and evolve at a rapid pace, so does our desire to innovate and collaborate,” said Gilad Jacobs, Founder of NormaTec Recovery. “Combining our talents will help accelerate our ability to provide comprehensive recovery solutions. This acquisition is an absolute game changer for the performance and wellness industry.”
The acquisition broadens Hyperice’s national footprint by providing the company with a second base of U.S. operations in Boston, which was the previous home to NormaTec. This location will work in conjunction with Hyperice’s Global Headquarters in Irvine, California.
“This is a remarkable day for our consumers, partners and both organizations, as we now strengthen our position of leadership from both coasts as one collective team,” said Jim Huether, CEO of Hyperice. “By joining forces, we will have the most talented, dynamic, and inspiring team on earth. We continue on our relentless mission to help people move better and live better, worldwide.
What Does The Hyperice Acquisition Mean For Consumers?
The Hyperice acquisition will prove to be beneficial to help bolster the product suite of the company, while also making some of the products more accessible to the general public. Hyperice has grasped a share of the retail market by creating a space for their Hypervolt in stores such as BestBuy. We expect this to carry over to some of NormaTec’s traditional products and hope to soon see NormaTec recovery boots in more retail markets across the United States. It will be interesting to see if Hyperice will re-brand these boots or if they will keep the well known name. We will also cross our fingers for a more affordable price!
